Emma Watson the next Audrey Hepburn?

Article From celebitchy.com June 10th, 2011. CB was going to cover this a few days ago, but she didn’t get to it. Sorry you have to read about Emma Watson from me! For a change, because I get the feeling that some of you Emma-loonies are two seconds away from tracking me down and forcing me to watch all of the Harry Potter films, Clockwork Orange-style, I’m going to TRY to be nicer to Emma. You know what’s weird? I’m honestly not trying to piss you off, and I honestly don’t DISLIKE Emma. I’m just a little disappointed in her and I think her fans build her up to something she’s not, likely based out of affection for a beloved character rather than the reality of who Emma is. I keep hearing “she’s a normal girl, doing what every 21 year old would do” - to which I’d like to make three points: one, isn’t that the excuse Linnocent has always made? Two, isn’t Emma’s whole deal that she’s better than normal? That she’s smarter, more competent, more of a good girl, and simply greater than “normal”? Three, if she’s aiming for normal, why did she ditch school to party and model? Emma tries to answer that last one, but I still don’t really “get” her answer.

The article then shows parts of her Sunday Style magazine that was more like fan fiction than an interview. Click the link above to read it. I read it and I think she got the question in advance. It sounds too perfect.

Echee says: I could not agree more here. As I've done this blog after being in such denial over what I was reading I read stuff like this all the time but as I read these praises I saw the other side that was the true reality. I've found a lot of contradiction, hypocrisy and deception on Emma's part. I also detect lods of arrogance and a good sized ego hidden by this false modesty and humble nature. She is definitely preachy but a do as I say not as I do type. That's how I read it but maybe you see it different. It's just an opinion. There is too much to list just surf my blog. Even today she is till doing it so it's not a age thing. I think it's a Emma thing. In fact I say this Emma/Hermione comparison in my disclaimer but the thing about Hermione is as much as her fans compare her to that character and the media follows suite so has Emma if you click here for the blog post I did on it. The Mario Testino line I placed above with my disclaimer speaks volumes as to how much Emma can play the part real well and make it so believable. He's telling us Emma can sell a car to a blindman.

Below is exactly what I am talking about as to how media hyped she is. With help from Emma herself the entertainment world paints her as the next Audrey Hepburn. My question is what has she done to get this kind of comparrison? She's been called an ICON by Harvey Weinstein, Christopher Bailey of Burberry and the CEO from Lancome. All who made money or will make off her but mostly because of Harry Potter and Emma's Hermione personality comparison that is not true. Her fans and parts of the media that don't care to do their research because they fall for her beauty and chamelon routine creates it all. I ask you what has she done other than looking good for the camera and playing 2nd fiddle to the real face of Harry Potter Daniel Radcliffe?

From celebs.gather.com June 2011 "Emma Watson is used to being photographed, and since she can't catch a date, she's got plenty of time to pose. But one head shot making the rounds has inspired the French to make a case she's really the new Audrey Hepburn. And maybe the only woman ever able to play the part."

Emma herself thinks she is the next Audrey Hepburn. My opinion she has got a real big head now but I guess you could expect that but it's not like it was the media or her fans who made her that way. Emma had her part as well and she keeps on playing it. Just the fact her father said this and this story makes think behind it all Emma thinks she is going to be and her father is humoring about it.

From zimbio.com nov 2010 Emma, who played Hermione from the age of nine, added her father was initially worried about her new look, but that her pixie-like hairdo has since grown on him. She said: “When I first told him that I was thinking about doing it, he said, ‘Don't get carried away. You're not Audrey Hepburn yet.’ But he loves it now, and so he's eating his words.”
From iheartwatson.net, "I like Audrey Hepburn and Jane Birking. I like, aswell, Kate Bosworth and Diane Kruger."

Echee says: What has this girl done to receive such a comparison? She's barely out of a kids movie that morphed to oldet teen to young adult and now over all demographics that was brilliantly written so kudos to JK. She's played no other roles and she did not win anything major for Hermione even though she said it was like playing herself. I find that funny and you will too if you clicked that link above. Emma is beautiful yes but this is the icing on the cake as to how overly exposed and lauded for doing nothing but playing one role in a great franchise and being photogenic. I read these accolades all the time. Emma Watson to me is more of a brand

UPDATE JULY 16TH, 2011 From hamptonroads.com, "Emma Watson, perched perilously atop high heels, came through the doors of the Starlight Room at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York looking more like Audrey Hepburn than Hermione Granger"
