Emma Watson: shallow over ethical

From what I percieve sand based soley on my personal opinion she cares more about shallow awards that don't mean anything and accolades for basically doing nothing by wearing clothes than she does for Fair Trade and organic clothing. The proof are in these quotes below along with my other posts on this subject. Those posts are on the right side of my page under "Emma's fashion none-sense."  I find her whole People Tree affiliation to be a rouse to gain credibility behind the scenes in the fashion world and her stated passion for organic clothing to be quite insincere. If you knew how many celebrities try to get their own fashion line or want one but don't have the backing for it my logic would make sense. She found a loop-hole.

She is no longer affiliated with People tree and had since moved on working with an high end designer. In my opinion it's just another one of those famous "celebrity causes" that serve an image. She never wear any of it like she says she would when promoting it. She says its not one of those celebrity things but she promotes it as such.
I don't want to beat a dead horse with this so go check out my other posts on "Emma's fashion none-sense." You will see her hypocrisy and contradictions more detailed there. I'm putting this post in my "Echee vindicated" label because comments like these make me feel vindicated in my opinion. She talks so highly of the importance but does not practice what she preaches.

From loveemmawatson.tumblr.com 2011 Vanity fair interview  Is it because of your French origins that Glamour UK named you the most elegant woman in the world? Maybe. I really like fashion, but also a certain understatement that’s typical of those French girls I see on the streets. My style is a mix of these two things: trying to be tasteful without trying to seek attention at any costs. I love simple things. Few accessories, not much make-up. Now that you’ve won this title, aren’t you stressed when you dress up in the morning? Oh, way more than before! (Laughs again) As soon as I see something I like I think: will this dress make me lose the title? But in the end, I just decide things myself. For example, how long did it take for you to choose this dress? Just a second, because I wanted to feel comfortable today. I had this DVF dress and I wore it. How many times do you think you’ll wear it? Unfortunately not many. These dresses are part of my job, you can’t and that’s a shame. But I give them to my friends, who are always happy about that. They periodically come at my house to clean out my wardrobe. What advice do you feel like giving to Kate Middleton because of this “media hangover”? The only advice I have is always be true to yourself. Never have something to hide or lose. This applies to Kate Middleton and to all human beings as well. (OMG, lol that last question with answer is priceless ~ Echee)

March 2011 REMIX MAGAZINE interview “It may sound crazy, but it never really occurred to me that people would care about what I was wearing. It really didn’t. It only hit home with the last film, but now I’m increasingly aware that people really care about what I put on my body. Although I find that a little strange, it’s made me realize that when I’m in the public eye it’s important how I dress because that’s how I’m presenting myself to the world.”

I don't think fair trade will solve poverty and it's naive to think clothes can do that but at least it is something a celebrity can use their influence to get those mindless monkey see monkey do gnomes that want to dress and act like celebrities to put their money into a cause that at least helps but it will not entirely solve. But still at the end of the day people with money that can afford the high prices that comes along with this will sadly be loyal to high end instead. All Emma has done is make more money for high end and be applauded for it. She gets free clothes and accessories to do product placement when she's getting her picture taken by paparazzi. Think what she could do if it was People Tree? She's making no difference like she she says she wants to. Who cares about best dressed awards anyway?! You're not doing much other than wearing clothes. It's sad you google Peopel Tree and Emma Watson stuff comes up. Ok I just beat the dead horse a bit. Sorry.

For the record it is her stated cause but only when a line comes out and after she lets us know she designed them.

WHY FAIR TRADE?

PEOPLE TREE

Update June 2011, From dailyrecord.co.uk June 16th, 2011 Her fashion sense has helped her to become the face of Burberry, whose sales have boomed since. She said: "It's a huge compliment. It's amazing. I'm really surprised, to be honest." Emma has also become a designer in her own right, with her own range for fair trade fashion manufacturers. She added: "I love fashion and there are two more collections to come out"

UPDATE JULY 7TH, 2011, From thisislondon.co.uk  July 2011, "As for her status as a style icon, she has no further ambitions to design fashion (she helped create a collection for ethical label People Tree last year) but may continue to model. The Burberry shoot was liberating because "it let people see me as something other than Hermione".

UPDATE JULY 24TH, 2011, From dailymail.co.uk July 23rd, 2011, "Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has proved a hit in front of the camera by modelling for Burberry, but now she wants to show off her skills as a fashion designer. The 21-year-old, who also plans to continue her studies at Oxford after cutting short her time at Brown University in America, has been taking fabric-cutting, design and sewing classes, I'm told. 'Emma wants to challenge herself creatively. 'She's obsessed with art at the moment,' says a mole. 'She's already designed a line of T-shirts and wants to expand her skills to create bespoke evening wear. 'She looks up to designers such as Georgina Chapman and Sarah Burton.'She has also been studying the work of Joan Miro to inspire her."

UPDATE, From ryanseacrest.com July 27th, 2011, "Ken Baker, E!’s Executive News Editor, addresses rumors that Emma Watson is leaving acting to pursue a new passion. What we know for sure is that Emma, on the heels of her last success with the final Harry Potter films, is looking to add fashion designer to her resume. How cool! This pretty starlet has already been a model for top designer Burberry and is always looking fabulous at the Harry Potter premieres. With her experience and awesome sense of style, we think she’s totally cut out for the job! Emma hasn’t decided to pursue this interest on a random whim. The ever stylish college student has been taking design classes at Brown University. She has been seen in sewing classes and is said to be “obsessed with fashion.” But don’t worry Potter-heads. This doesn’t mean that Emma is leaving acting. Rumor has it that the actress already has two post-Potter movies in the works!

Emma Watson misses a Fair Trade/organic opportunity

The Met Ball is the fashion world equivalent to the Oscars. Met Ball is about fashion. It’s about high end fashion. Each year they do themes. In 2010 they did American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity. In 2011 it was about honoring late designer Alexander McQueen. A plethora of A-list stars from across the globe attends while showing off elegant gowns and tuxedos.
It’s something Emma Watson has attended in the past. Most recent was 2010. What a perfect opportunity to wear People Tree which is about fair trade and ethical clothing. She could have used her connection to high end fashion designer Alberta Ferretti of whom she collaborated small line of organic clothing to wear to such an event.
Emma is all about Fair Trade and organic clothing. In fact she’s been affiliated with People Tree up to last year when she designed a line for them. We know this because Emma let us know. She even did a small but expensive organic clothing line with Alberta Ferretti where a pair of jeans was close to $700. She could have made a dress for such an event to push her stated fashion.
But yet she has not. For over a year we’ve heard from Emma she supports these types of things but yet she wears high end. But yet she was named best dressed female Brit last year, earned an Elle Fashion Icon award in Feb 2011 and has now been coined as the world’s best dressed woman from Glamour magazine taking that title from Cherly Cole.
Emma Watson once again missed a great chance to start a trend of her own instead of following the same old trends with designers using material that is not organic. We’ve heard her quotes of I’d wear everything from People Tree including the jewelry. We’ve heard from her that it is important to know what you are wearing and where it comes from and who made it.

She wants to make a difference but as I've said in 5 previous posts on her fashion none-sense the only difference she is making is for the wallets of designers like the late Alexander McQueen and her old boss at Burberry CEO Christopher Bailey. This latest title of the world's best dressed woman from Glamour magazine is proving my point. Let's not forget about Lancome either.

Emma Watson the 2010 best dressed female brit, 2011 Elle fashion Icon award winner and now voted the best dressed female by Glamor magazine was a no show at the 2011 Met Ball. Maybe next year with people tree and organic clothing?

Emma Watson does not support fair trade or organic clothing

Is it me or does this girl get caught consistently at airports? She always seems to be seen going but not coming. It’s like the paparazzi know what door or terminal she is going to be at. I wonder if her people call ahead to let the paparazzi know when and where she end up at whatever airport. Heathrow is a big airport. So is the one in NYC and Boston she has used. Somehow she can be found. I say that because she does not go places with a big entourage. So how do they spot her?
Ok, on to my original reason for this particular post.
From upscalehype.com  April 25th, 2011 Actress Emma Watson was spotted at Heathrow Airport carrying a Burberry grainy leather bowling bag ($1,395). The bag features two leather handles, a double zip top closure, and a belted top with a vintage brass military clasp buckle. She is also wearing a Burberry check scarf around her neck as well as a navy Burberry coat.

Hmm, she does this a lot. This is one incident of many. Why? $$$ that's why.

ECHEE SAYS: Notice how the bag or purse of whatever is always facing the camera? Talk about product placement for high end accessories. She got the coat and the scarf and that hat as well. On the right side of this screen I have 4 older posts under the label, "Emma's fashion none-sense" which details her hypocrisy and contradictions with saying she is a supporter or fair trade and organic clothing but you never see her wear any of what she says she believes in or designs. I went on as to how she does more product placement for high end clothing and accessories than she does making this difference she has be talking about. She only talks about fair trade or organic clothing when something she designs comes out.

Other than that she wears top designers both at events and in her every day casual wear. She won best dressed female Brit last year and recieved an Elle fashion Icon award and none of that was from wearing what she states she is passionate about. I truly believe all this fair trade and organic clothing is one way for her to get her foot in the door to be a high end designer one day. She is no longer affiliated with People Tree (or Burberry for that matter) and has since moved on with high end Italian designer Alberta Ferritti that in my mind is inching her closer to my opinion. I don't know why she does not sport anything of fair trade or organic if she believes in it.

Just think of the real difference she could make by sporting fair trade or organic clothing. Some people are mindless gnomes that want to wear what celebrities wear because they really have no backbone or is a free thinker. Why not use that power by making trends of her own instead of following trends? To me Emma is just another celebrity attaching herself to a cause that makes her look good. The only way to make a real difference is practicing what you preach. They say Emma is the new "IT" girl, so why doesn't this "IT" girl use "IT" to start a trend of her own? I don't think her heart is truly in "IT" and her mind is in being called the "IT" girl.
