Luke White, 23, has long been immersed in music. Having played piano from a very young age, at aged 11 he decided to give up formal lessons and take up the guitar. Whilst studying A levels he made up his mind that he didn't enjoy the way music was "taught" and would instead teach himself how to use a studio, at home.
We caught up with Luke and picked his brain about a few things....
What made you want to get involved in music?
I was always playing when I was younger and just grew up thinking thats what I wanted to do when I was older , I've never really wanted to, or thought about doing anything else..
What are you looking forward to doing this summer?

Sunshine! Being outside, I will probably try and go away somewhere for a couple of weeks , but otherwise just enjoying being warm!
What do you think is the best thing about being young in London?

I'm not sure in terms of age , but I really love living here. I've been here since I was a kid, and travelled a lot. I would love to live in other cities but I'll always think of london as home.
So, Luke White makes it big, a global phenomenon, some people want to make a film about you, which of these two films do you choose?
A] Big Hollywood Blockbuster, choose any celebs you want to play the role of you and your acquaintances, big budget, the writers slightly alter some facts to make it a more dramatic film
OR
B] low budget, fly-on-the-wall type documentary, with genuine clips of you, interviews with friends and family etc.

If someone wanted to make a film about me , and my life had been interesting enough to make a film about, I wouldn't mind how big or small the budget was, or what type of film it was, as long as it was good! But I'd probably be more interested to watch a great documentary of a favorite artist of mine, rather than a blockbuster film.

If I could put on a show at a great venue and people turned up wanting to see me play , I would feel pretty good. I would also quite like a 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT so , If I could afford one of those I'd probably feel like I've made it.

What would be your advice to a young musician that is trying to make it?

Practice and work really hard. Learn to play well with other people. No-one really teaches that, especially in schools, or at least from my experience with music education. They teach the writing/reading first , and music is about playing and listening , and interacting with others.
What do you think about the manufactured stars coming through talent shows like X factor?
What do you think about the manufactured stars coming through talent shows like X factor?
I have more of a problem with the way the people on those shows are treated , and the type of person they attract/create. But then I guess if you apply for a show like that you know what your getting yourself in for.
Where do you go to find out about new music?
Where do you go to find out about new music?
A friend has just got me on Spotify which is an amazing program. I'm still a bit wary of how royalties etc work out on it for the artists, but if they can get it working right I think thats the future. Otherwise I use itunes a lot, and I read Music Week and Industry Magazines etc.
How are you using social networks?
How are you using social networks?
I don't really use social media much in my personal life , but I am trying to get my head round Facebook and Twitter from a musicians point of view. I have a blog which is my main website that I update.
Great, Thanks Luke. We're always happy to promote young talent, so check out Luke's tumblr for more info and have a listen to some of his tracks.
