Hide inspired musical

Actress Minamisawa Nao (20) will star in her first musical next year.

The musical is called "Pink Spider" and will have an overall motif based on the world view of X Japan's late guitarist hide. It will have an original story, but more than 20 of hide's compositions, including "Rocket Dive" and of course "Pink Spider", will be featured throughout the performance.

Minamisawa will play the role of a high-school student with a passion for rock music who soon starts to experience various conflicts between her dreams and harsh reality.

The fact that it's one of Minamisawa's hobbies to sing in a choir will definitely come in handy for her first musical. For now it's planned that she will have to sing and dance to 5 or 6 songs. She already started to take voice and muscle training to prepare herself for the role. "I want to devote myself and my soul to this project," she commented.

Minamisawa also started to listen to hide's song every day to get herself into the right feeling. "It's a huge challenge for me, because rock isn't really a genre I've been listening to that often. I will try to absorb all things about hide to get a better understanding of his world view," she said.
The curtain will rise for the first time at The Globe Tokyo in Shinjuku-ku,
Tokyo on March 27th, 2011.
