Visual-kei Movie starring Shunsuke Kazama

Source Japanator:

Visual-kei fans, or at least those who know what it is, should be very excited for this. A movie titled Maebashi Visual-kei, about a young visual-kei band from a small town, is currently in production and will open in Japanese cinemas in February 2011.

For those who don't know what visual-kei is, I hope at least J-Rock rings a bell -- but note that visual-kei takes it those few steps further. The term refers to J-Rock bands that use crazy costumes, make-up and visual gimmicks as a larger part of their image. Popular bands such as Nightmare, X-Japan, Buck-Tick and even Dir en grey are labelled as visual-kei. It's something crazy enough to make for a really interesting movie.

Furthermore Shunsuke Kazama, the Japanese actor/singer renowned for his voice acting work as Yugi Moto on the anime Yu-Gi-Oh!, is to play the lead role in the movie. The movie is set in a town called Maebashi and follows a boy who sings in his four-piece visual-kei band. I'm excited to see this when I can, but then again, I can't ever get enough J-Rock.
