Following on the trend of idol groups such as AKB48, SKE48, SDN48 and NMB48, a new idol group has been announced: OJS48.
OJS48 is also known as Ojisan48, with "ojisan" being Japanese for "older man" or "uncle". The group has been formed by producer Akimoto Yasushi, who writes all of AKB48's lyrics. The members of the group are all retired detectives and policemen, with an average age of 61.
The group's debut single, titled Shinkokyuu, will be released on October 13th, but will be available on iTunes from September 29th. The title track has been described as having themes of looking back over the events of a lifetime. The single will include the B-side Gojippohyappo and instrumental versions of both main tracks.
